Audio books, Videos and E-books

  • Audible Stories (Amazon) Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2. For as long as schools are closed you can stream, for free, stories to your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.

  • World Book Online World Book Online have just made their fabulous collection of over 3,000 ebooks and audiobooks available for free for children to access at home.

  • Poetry Archive Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2. An archive of spoken poetry recordings. Children can listen to poems read out loud.

  • Story Time with Nick Early years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 From Monday 20 April films of well-loved stories read by Nick Cannon, a trained actor, teacher and trainer.

  • Classroom Secrets Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2. Downloadable resource packs which cover a range of subjects, including reading and writing.

  • Authorfy Early Years, KS1 and KS2. Access to masterclasses on texts from a range of authors, including videos from the authors and activities linked to novels.

  • Literacy Shed Key Stage 1 and 2. Downloadable resource packs with tasks based on video clips on YouTube.

  • English Mastery Key Stage 1 and 2. Downloadable resource books providing 8 weeks of activities.

  • Book Trust Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2. Recommended booklists, categorised by age range and topic, including fiction and non-fiction. Family activities are included in the ‘Home Time’ section.

  • Pobble For key stage 1 and key stage 2. A new image is published each day as a basis for creative writing. Story starters, questions and drawing ideas are provided.

  • Love Reading 4 Kids For Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 a site with recommended booklists, categorised by age range and topic, covering fiction and non-fiction.

  • The Day Newsletter Key Stage 1 and 2. A daily newsletter for parents and carers at home with children, helping to enrich learning with real-world knowledge and skills.

  • Poetry By Heart For key stage 2, a wide selection of poetry covering different topics

  • Purple Mash Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Although you need to register there is no charge during the school closure period. Each week, a selection of daily activities is produced on different subjects, including comprehension and grammar.

  • Family Zone from The Literacy Trust Free reading and writing resources, audiobooks, videos, competitions and reading challenges. Every resource is available for free, although to access some you may need to create a free account
