Food and snacks in school
Nut Free School!
Please do not send any nut products into school as we have children with severe nut allergies.
There are also other allergies across school and classes will be made aware if needed.
Our School Meals
Mrs Fiona Averill, our school cook and her team make all our meals on site. Our kitchen has a five star food hygiene rating.
School meals are pre-ordered termly and you can see the current menu at the bottom of this page.
There may be seasonal amendments or minor alterations to menus.
The current cost of school meals is £2.30 per day.
Packed Lunches
You can choose for your child to bring a packed lunch from home. Children will be asked to take all of their packed lunch left-overs home with them so that parents can monitor their eating habits. This allows parents to see exactly what has been eaten and to discuss their child's choices with them. Children are allowed to have their own juice at lunch time.
Children who bring a packed lunch to school should ideally have one which provides them with a balanced diet and supports the habit of eating healthily.
NHS advise says that, a balanced packed lunch should contain:
- Starchy foods, such as bread, rice, potatoes, pasta etc.
- Protein foods, such as meat, fish, eggs, beans etc
- A dairy item, such as cheese or yoghurt
- Vegetables or salad, and a portion of fruit.
Snacks
The only foods that are permissible for school snack are either fresh fruit or vegetables or dried fruits without a coating.
Toast Tuck
Toast is served each Tuesday and Friday at morning break times. As we are a cashless school, if you would like your child to have this optional extra (at a cost of 20p per serving) you can buy this item for the whole of the term by making a purchase in the school shop section in School Money. Pre-School do not have this extra service as they already have mid-morning snack every day.

As part of the Governments Free School Meal Initiative School provides universal free school meals to all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 but did you know that older children may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following:

Drinks
As a school we encourage our children to drink a range of healthy drinks throughout the school day e.g. water and milk. Children are encouraged to drink water, which is available throughout the school day. To support this, all children must bring a water bottle to school. These bottles may only contain plain water and may be refilled at the water coolers when needed.
CoolMilk scheme
Our school provides a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils. School milk is free for all under-fives and then paid for by school for all children up to the end of Year 2.
