Our Community
There are strong and supportive relationships across the whole school community (SIAMS 2016) and we believe that it is very important that this extends in to the community in Shelf and beyond.
Our Golden Day
St Michael and All Angels was 50 on Friday 10th June 2022! We celebrated our ‘Golden Day’ with many exciting activities whilst wearing gold or yellow.
We kicked off our day with a whole school concert celebrating music from the last 50 years for our audience of family and friends. Following this, we showcased some of our school history from our archives along with photos our school community brought in. Then we had a competition with traditional games such as splat the rat, a picnic lunch as well as our Art competition to Design a Jubilee Angel. Sadly, despite many leads we didn't manage to locate the buried time capsule!
In the evening we held a Golden Disco and danced the night away.
Thank you to all who made our day very special.
Christmas Angels
Over the last few years our school have delivered and shared handmade angels in the local community at Christmas time. The angels have a prayer attached to them and we take great pride knowing they were spreading love, hope and happiness. We receive some wonderful feedback from the school community and they really make a difference.
Thank you to everyone who knits and crochets angels, it is greatly appreciated and we can't do the project without your help.

Bee You Journals
"A good pal of mine, Alex O'Keefe wanted sponsor his old school, through his company Yorkshire Pro Window cleaners, with my Bee You Kids Journal. A few days later he did just that and today we hand delivered 120 journals to his old school. Amazing to see how happy all involved with it are. He was buzzing to be able to give back and the school was buzzing to have an amazing resource for their childrens wellbeing. If you'd like to do something similar just drop us a message. We match your sponsorship so we can have these journals in as many kids hands as possible. What a guy ❤️"

Our Garden Project
The Garden Gang have had a really busy and productive weekend and made a great start at tackling our overgrown garden area. If you are able to contribute any time, resources or skills to this venture please contact the school.
More excellent progress thanks to our Garden Gang!
Choir
We have a school choir for Years 4 and above. They meet to rehearse at lunchtimes and enjoy performing at any opportunity. They have performed in school assemblies as well as at St Michael's Church during their Christmas Angel Fest.
Our choir relished an opportunity to sing at The Big Sing at Victoria Theatre in Halifax and at a showcase event at Brighouse High School.
They can not wait to be able to get singing together once again and spread some musical joy in our local community!
