Extra Curricular Clubs
At St Michaels we have a wonderful variety of after-school clubs available. Our clubs are not just about keeping busy; they offer a unique opportunity for our students to explore their interests, enhance their skills, and build lasting friendships in a fun environment.
We run a Forest School Club, which takes place in our enchanting nature garden. This club allows children to immerse themselves in the beauty of the outdoors, where they can learn about the environment through hands-on experiences and activities that connect them to nature. It’s a great way for them to develop confidence and independence whilst cultivating a lifelong appreciation for the natural world. The activities planned follow the children’s interests which might be den building, bug hunting or learning how to use different tools.
For those who enjoy creativity and building things, the Lego Club is an excellent option. Here, children can unleash their imaginations, collaborating with peers to construct incredible models while enhancing their problem-solving skills. This is a safe space where every idea is welcome, and teamwork is encouraged.
Our Clay Model Club offers a fantastic opportunity for budding artists to express themselves. Working with clay can be incredibly therapeutic and reinforces fine motor skills, all while allowing children's creativity to shine.
For the little nature enthusiasts, our Gardening Club provides hands-on experience working in our school grounds. Children learn about growing plants and the importance of nurturing our environment. They get an understanding of where food comes from and the significance of sustainability, all while having fun digging in the dirt!
In addition to these clubs, we also have a range of exciting sports activities, including Netball, Cricket, Football, and Tag Rugby. Each of these activities fosters a sense of community and health while allowing students to learn the value of teamwork and cooperation. We also offer a Year 5 and 6 Cross Country Club which takes advantage of our local woods, children enjoying running in the woods and the benefits of being outdoors. Children then have the option to compete in a cross-country competition. These clubs not only promote fitness but also teach valuable lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.
If your child has a passion for music, they can join our Choir, which is a perfect outlet for those who love to sing and perform. This club not only helps enhance vocal skills but also builds confidence as students have opportunities to perform in front of an audience.
We highly recommend that you discuss these clubs with your children and encourage them to participate in activities that excite them. After-school clubs are a fantastic way for students to explore new interests further. We encourage all children to try a club or two, as there is something for everyone, regardless of their skill level. We truly believe that these clubs play a vital role in our students’ overall development, and we are excited to see them thrive in these environments!
